LETTER: Best graduation ceremony ever

To Ozaukee Press:

Kudos to the Port Washington-Saukville School District for putting on the best graduation ceremony I have ever attended. I strongly encourage them to do a graduation parade again next year.

So many benefits over a traditional (stuffy) graduation: no sitting in a crowded auditorium or gym for hours; no listening to “Pomp and Circumstance” repeated eight times; thousands of people involved instead of hundreds; no limited tickets; local businesses and organizations can show their support for the grads; instead of a 15-second walk across the stage, grads get 15 minutes of cheers; great opportunity for self-expression by students and families.              It’s hard to see what advantages, if any, a traditional ceremony has.
