Her parents met in Milwaukee and fell in love. Hans Glieber and Mary Markowetz were both born in the Lintz region of Austria. Hans had been a famous zither player in New York City before moving to

Milwaukee to buy a hotel. Hans and Mary eventually moved to Port Washington to raise their growing family. The family belonged to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Port Washington

The Glieber twins had many friends and were very talented. Leona still played the violin and gave a short concert to family a few years ago. After graduating from Port Washington High School in 1935,

Leona lived with her sister Annie and her family while working.

In August 1946, Leona married the love of her life, Roland Fitzgerald, after his return from  World War II. They made their home in Port Washington.

Leona loved to travel. She and Roland regularly took day trips on his BMW motorcycle. Each year, Leona and her sisters always took a vacation together. Leona's favorite trip was to the Holy Land with Roland.  When Leona and Roland moved to Knellsville, they joined St. Peter of Alcantara Catholic Church in Port Washington.

After Roland passed away, Leona moved to Dallas to be near her sons. She continued to travel the world, paint and make friends. After her son Ed's passing, Leona moved to Lake Cypress Springs to live with son Cliff and his wife Ann. Leona was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Mount Vernon, Texas, where she made many friends.

She will be greatly missed by family and friends.
