Legion post to host Memorial Day events

Landt-Thiel American Legion Post 470 in Saukville will host a Memorial Day observance on Monday, May 27, beginning with an 8 a.m. prayer service at Union Cemetery.

Those activities will be followed by a community parade at 9 a.m., with the procession going from Rebels Field to Veterans Park where a Memorial Day program will be held.

As a salute to the nation’s deceased veterans, a wreath-laying ceremony will take place, along with taps and a rifle salute, at Veterans Park in the downtown Triangle.

The salute will be followed by a presentation of scholastic awards and introduction of Badger Boys and Badger Girls

The Port Washington High School band will perform patriotic music.

A light lunch will be served after the park ceremonies at the Landt-Thiel American Legion Post 470, 601 W. Dekora St.

The meal is open to the public.
