Lakeshore Chinooks plan on normal season

The Lakeshore Chinooks, a developmental baseball team comprised of college players from across the country that plays home games at Concordia University Wisconsin in Mequon, plans to hold its season as scheduled.

The team is scheduled to open the season on May 26 on the road.

According to a statement from the Northwoods League, “The League takes seriously its responsibility to focus on the facts, and to act with common sense and sound judgment after considering the best available information. A proactive process is, and will be, ongoing as events continue to unfold, but for now the League is preparing for the start of its season as anticipated.”

The league provides weekly updates regarding the status of the season.

The Chinooks’ office in Grafton is closed until further notice, according to a statement on the team’s website due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

All front office staff members may be reached via email for questions or purchases.

The Chinooks are looking for host families for the season. Nearly 50 players will spend time on the roster from the season that runs from late May to mid-August.

“Families become part of the team by providing personal support for young men, many of whom are spending their first summer away from home,” according to a statement from the team on its website.

The Chinooks’ host family coordinator Steve Bazelon meets with each family individually to explain the program and determine a good match for the players.

Immediate family members receive complimentary tickets to each home game, giveaway items, a 10% discount on team merchandise, invites to host family gameday events and a free Northwoods League Webcast pass.
