Lakeshore Chinooks keep Akre for 2021
The Lakeshore Chinooks have announced that Travis Akre will return for his third season as field manager for the team in 2021.
The third manager in Chinooks’ history will look to return the team to its winning ways this summer with the hopes of bringing a second Northwoods League championship to the organization. Akre’s squad went on a hot streak in the middle of the 2019 season but it was not quite enough to punch their ticket to the playoffs. The team finished with a record of 32-40.
“I’m really excited to be returning to Lakeshore this summer. I’d like to thank our ownership group and front office for the opportunity once again. We have been working really hard on this season’s roster and it should be a fun summer of Chinooks baseball,” Akre said in a statement.
Akre is well-connected at all levels of collegiate baseball and will draw on those connections to supplement the roster throughout the summer. Akre also understands the impact the club can have in the community and embraces the opportunity to interact with fans.
“Not only is Travis committed to putting a winning team on the field but he is extremely dedicated to helping develop these young men on and off the field as they prepare to return to their universities and eventually on their journey to the minors and majors. Coach has been great interacting with our fans and community whether it is the youth camps we host all the way down to talking baseball with our fans,” Chinooks Assistant General Manager Eric Snodgrass said.
Akre’s coaching staff and roster will be announced in the coming months leading up to the season.
The 2021 season is scheduled to get underway at Kapco Park on Thursday, June 3, at 6:35 p.m. Last season was canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
Season tickets and group tickets are available for purchase. Single-game tickets will go on sale at the end of April.
