KUDOS: Do you hear that sound? It’s music from our PW-S schools

To Ozaukee Press:

Our Schools Month and the Port Washington-Saukville School District  Music Department delivered something for everyone. Kudos to all who helped to make this happen: our talented students, dedicated educators and parent volunteers.

Music touches the heart of all and represents the diversity and inclusivity of our schools. Beginning in February, the Port High a capella groups FOCUS and Limited Edition participated in the International Championship of High School A Capella quarterfinal competitions. Both groups will be moving on to semifinals at the Pabst Theater in Milwaukee on March 25.     On Feb. 23, the Thomas Jefferson Middle School hosted Music & Mocha, followed by hosting the middle school Solo & Ensemble for the region.

Saukville Elementary School had Storybook Theatre, Port High students participated in Solo & Ensemble in West Bend, and then came the concerts: The grade 6-12 band festival concert, the grade Inform-ance choir concert, the grade 7-12 choral festival concert and the Acapocalypse festival.

In April, the middle school students in band and choir will tour the elementary schools to inform youngsters about music options available for them at TJMS, and middle school music students will be taking a trip to St. Louis and the high school will host the All That Jazz concert.

Music is inclusive, and what starts in our schools continues throughout our community and celebrates everyone, no matter where one is in life’s journey. Sincere gratitude to all who make this possible.
