Kathy Turk

Kathy T. Turk, 83, of West Bend died of lung cancer Saturday, Oct. 19, at Harbor Cove assisted living in Port Washington.  

Mrs. Turk was born in Milwaukee on April 13, 1936, to John and Martha Kreckler Elias. She graduated from Messmer High School in Milwaukee in 1954.

On Aug. 17, 1957, she married Ronald Turk at St. Albert’s Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple lived in Milwaukee and moved to West Bend in 1973.

Mrs. Turk earned an associate’s degree as an administrative assistant from Moraine Park Technical College in 1977. She worked as bookkeeper for the Washington County Health Department, retiring when she was 62.

 In retirement, the couple moved to Townsend, to Madison in 2015 and then to Port Washington in 2018.

Mrs. Turk was a former member of St. Mary of the Hill Lake Church in Lakewood and was a member of the Mission Sewing Circle. She spent most of her time sewing and knitting clothes and making quilts for the mission children, and she was also a member of the Christian Women’s Group.

She also enjoyed watching football, especially the Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers. Her family said she was an avid reader who enjoyed using her Kindle.

Mrs. Turk is survived by her husband Ronald of Port Washington; daughter Mary (Warren) Arndt of West Bend; son Daniel (Jean) Turk of San Tan Valley, Ariz.; grandchildren Jeannine (Craig) Waterson,  Kenneth (Melissa) Turk, Jason Turk, Shawn (Abigail) Turk-Hardy,  Ryan Turk,  Eric Turk and Melyssa (Cody) Tromberg.

 She is further survived by nine great-grandchildren and daughter-in-law Cindy Turk-Dahlinder of West Bend.

Mrs. Turk was preceded in death by her son John, parents and sister Marian Beaudry.

There will be no funeral service. Interment will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Port Washington.

Memorials to the American Cancer Society are suggested.
