Janet Hensel

 Janet A. Hensel died Wednesday, June 12, at Samaritan Home in West Bend. She was 95.
Mrs. Hensel was born June 25, 1923, in Silver Creek to William and Thuska Kraitch Gruenewald. She grew up in Port Washington, where her father ran City Laundromat. She attended local schools.
In 1943, she married John Hensel of Sheboygan.
Mrs. Hensel worked at Phillip Sales in Port Washington and in Grafton at Power Products Manufacturing and Tecumseh Manufacturing.
Her daughter Debbie Kison said she was “a quiet, simple woman and a proud mother and homemaker.  
“Mother always did the best for her children. That was her main priority. She was a hard worker,” she said.
Mr. Hensel died on Feb. 25, 1973.
In 2006, Mrs. Hensel moved to Germantown to live with her daughter Debbie and her fiance Norm Blankenburg.  While there, Mr. Blankenburg’s son, John, helped her and cared for her.
In March 2016, she moved to Samaritan Home in West Bend.
Mrs. Hensel is survived by her children Sandra (Jim) Bernarde of Phoenix and Debra (Norm Blankenburg) Kison of West Bend; grandchildren Julia Grandlic, Lisa (Dave) Lemler, Michael Hensel and Amanda (Doug) Secor; five great-grandchildren;  and former daughter-in-law Mary Hensel.
She is preceded in death by her husband John; son Douglas “Scott”; sisters Ruth Beck, Dorothy Cassidy, Lois Swatek, Roma Horn and Betty Betz; and grandson-in-law Dan Grandlic.
A memorial graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, July 27, at St. Paul Cemetery in Silver Creek.
Poole Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
