James Knauer

Jim Knauer passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, Wis., at the age of 75.

Jim was born in Oshkosh, Wis., on Nov. 4, 1945, the son of Martin and Donna (Cleland) Knauer.

Jim grew up in Appleton, Wis., and was a member of the first graduating class of Xavier High School.

On Feb. 11, 1978, Jim married Sue Kalupa. They moved from Thiensville to Port Washington in 1980.

Jim was a territory manager for School Specialty for 47 years. He truly enjoyed the relationships he built with his ever-changing customers. Jim retired in 2016.

Jim’s biggest passion was boating on Lake Michigan. He and his wife have kept a boat in the beautiful Port Washington marina for over 30 years, where they developed lasting friendships with other marina tenants and the marina staff. Jim was happiest when he was fishing, cruising or just relaxing on his boat.

He is further survived by his sister Marcia (Tony) of Appleton, brother Tom (Debbie) of Luxemburg, Wis., sister Kris (Patrick) of Menasha and brother-in-law Lee Kalupa of Oconomowoc.
