Jackson named new CEO of Balance Inc.

Rebecca Jackson is the new executive director of Balance Inc.

Jackson, who started with the Grafton nonprofit agency on Oct. 1, has spent more than 20 years in the intellectual and developmental disabilities field and 15 years of executive leadership.

Recently, she served at Centers for Independence, a Milwaukee-based organization supporting adults and children with disabilities similar to Balance.

She has a graduate certificate in nonprofit management from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

“Joining Balance felt like a natural next step. The organization’s mission and values align perfectly with my own,” she said, noting that when she visited the agency, “I felt at home.”

Jackson said since her initial experience with people who have disabilities as a direct support person in a community group home, she has “wanted the people I cared about to have the same opportunities I had: to do what they want to do, go where they want to go and fully experience life.”

Jackson succeeds acting CEO Alyse Sandow, who will return to her previous position as director of programs.

Balance, 1350 14th Ave., is dedicated to improving the quality of life for adults and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities by providing community-based programs that promote and respond to each person’s goals, dreams and needs.
