Hwy. LL to reopen soon; other projects planned

Reconstruction of the intersection of Highways LL and KK will soon be completed, but more road projects are yet to come this construction season.

Concrete work on the intersection is the last phase of an Ozaukee County repaving project in that area.

County Highway Commissioner Jon Edgren said last week that Highway LL will be open by mid-May, and the entire intersection will be open by mid-June.

The cost of rebuilding the intersection is $450,000, with the cost evenly split between the state and county.

In the meantime, traffic has been rerouted, some of it through downtown Port Washington.

Other county road projects this season include:

• Installation of traffic signals and pavement at Port Washington and Falls roads in the Village of Grafton, scheduled for construction in June and July. Total cost is $800,000, with $160,000 from the county.

• County Highway I will be widened to 30 feet and will get a 2.5-inch pavement overlay in July from Lilac Lane to Highway 33 at a cost of $1.1 million.

• Highway K also will be widened to 30 feet and get a 2.5-inch pavement overlay in August from Highway KW to Termaat Road at a cost of $100,000.

• Highway I will get another 2.5-inch overlay from Highway 33 to Shady Lane in September at a cost of $450,000.
