How to live with coyotes is focus of Port plan

A coyote management plan aimed at teaching people how to deal with the canines was adopted Tuesday by the Port Washington Common Council.

The plan was prompted by several sightings in the city — including one in which police shot a coyote that had chased two women onto a picnic table in Rotary Park and tried to jump up after them.

The plan doesn’t seek to cull the animals or relocate them but to teach people how to live with them, Parks, Forestry and Landscape Director Jon Crain told aldermen.
