House lost in fire

A garage fire at 290 Hidden Bluff Rd. in the Town of Belgium spread to the adjacent two-story house and destroyed it on Monday afternoon.
Nobody was injured. Belgium Fire Chief Dan Birenbaum said a man living there and his dog were able to get out. The man’s wife was not home at the time.
The house was engulfed by the time firefighters arrived. The home and garage are total losses.
Birenbaum said the wife is staying at the family’s home up north and the man is staying with friends.
The cause of the fire has not been determined but it is not suspicious, Birenbaum said.
Sixteen fire departments responded.
This was the second fire in seven days for the Belgium Fire Department.
The department also sent a tender to a large fire at a pallet company in Slinger on Sunday.
