Horror show on highways was just beet juice
Just a week ahead of Halloween, the intersection of highways H and I in the Town of Fredonia looked like a scene from a horror movie Tuesday morning, but it was just beet juice on the roads.
According to the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office, a semi truck hauling a dump trailer spilled a large amount of beet by-product as it was turning from Highway H onto Highway I at 6:20 a.m. Oct. 22.
The semi, which was being driven by a 53-year-old Random Lake man, was hauling the beet by-product from Lakeside Foods in Belgium to a farm in the Town of Saukville in a trailer that was not covered.
The spill closed the intersection for about an hour and half for clean up.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and enforcement action is pending, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
