Holland Fest is this weekend
Wooden shoes known as klompen, doughnut balls called oliebollen and streets so clean you could dance on them are coming to a town just across the northern border of Ozaukee County.
Those and plenty of other treasures from Dutch heritage will again grace Cedar Grove during the annual Holland Festival from Friday, July 26, through Sunday, July 28.
Friday, July 26
• 3 p.m. — Street scrubbing, klompen dancing, wooden shoe races on Van Altena Avenue between Main Street and First Street.
• 3 to 5:30 p.m. — Klompenhouwer Luke Traver will do wooden shoe carving demonstrations.
• 4 to 4:45 p.m. — Barely Balanced circus professionals will perform a mix of comedy and acrobatics.
• 2 to 5 p.m. — The Cedar Grove Library will hold a used book sale.
• 3 to 6 p.m. — The Het Museum and Te Ronde House will be open.
• A children’s tent with free activities will be available throughout the day.
• 3 to 8 p.m. — A children’s bounce house will be open in Independence Park.
• 4 to 6 p.m. — Face painting will be offered.
• Souvenir and food stands will offer items and food and drinks for purchase throughout the day.
• 4:30 to 7:30 p.m. — Bingo games will be played.
• 3 to 8 p.m. Raffle tickets will be for sale
• 5:30 to 9 p.m. — Part Time Models will perform a mix of blues, funk, rock and pop music at the bandstand.
• 9:15 p.m. — The final raffle prize drawing will be held.
Saturday, July 27
• 6:30 to 8 a.m. — Registration for the two-mile run/walk and 10-kilometer walk will be held in Independence Park at the corner of Third Street and Ramaker Avenue.

• 8:30 a.m. — The run and walk starts.
• 8 a.m. to noon — Registration for the car, truck and motorcycle show on the Cedar Grove Library lawn for $5 per vehicle.
• 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. — The show is open on the lawn. Prizes are awarded at 1 p.m.
• 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. — Art Fair on the Green features more than 50 crafters from across the Midwest.
• Scenic “misguided” free trolley tours hosted by village historian Richard Dykstra will run at 10 and 11 a.m., noon, and 4, 5 and 6 p.m.
• 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Klompenhouwer Luke Traver will do wooden shoe carving demonstrations.
• 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — The Cedar Grove Library will hold a used book sale.
• 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. — The Het Museum and Te Ronde House will be open.
• 1 p.m. Street scrubbing, klompen dancing and the annual parade will be held.
• Souvenir and food stands will offer items and food and drinks for purchase throughout the day.
Entertainment at the bandstand
• 11 a.m. — Fashions of Holland and stage dancers perform.
• 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. — The Goodtime Dutchmen/Polka Band performs.
• 6 to 9:15 p.m. — Totally Neon performs 1980s pop hits.
v 9:15 p.m. — The final raffle and grand prize drawing will be held.
Sunday, July 28
• 6 p.m. — A worship service in the park will be held.
