History frozen in time

The West Bend Ice Bears, made up of players from West Bend East and West, Germantown, Hartford, Slinger and Grafton high schools, won its first North Shore Conference title in program history this season. Grafton seniors Andrew Ribecky and Pierson Johnson contributed to the season’s success. Ribecky, a defenseman, scored on all five of his shots on goal, including one game winner, and had 12 assists in the regular season. Johnson, a forward, scored six goals on six shots, including one game winner, and had eight assists. The Ice Bears went 14-5 in the NSC, well ahead of Homestead’s 8-12. The Ice Bears won their first playoff game at home over Fox Cities, 5-2, on Feb. 2. Johnson scored an even-strength goal in the first period, and Ribecky assisted on a goal in the second period and scored a shorthanded one in the third. Bay Port beat the Ice Bears, 5-2, at home last Friday.
