Historical Society to visit Ten Chimneys

The Port Washington Historical Society is hosting a trip to Ten Chimneys in Genesee Depot on Wednesday, July 16.

Ten Chimneys is a Swedish-style estate steeped in theater history and surrounded by European gardens that was created by Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne, theater darlings of the 1920s and ’30s.

A two-hour docent-led tour will take participants through the three-story main house, the rustic rehearsal studio, cottage and gardens.

The trip includes bus transportation, snacks, the tour, a box lunch and gratuities. There is limited handicapped access to Ten Chimneys.

The tour, which costs $100,  is limited to 30 people.

The bus will leave Port at 7:45 a.m. and return about 2:45 p.m.
