Historic Cedarburg dams are focus of May 18 walk

    A historic dam walking tour will be held in Cedarburg from 10:30 a.m. to noon Saturday, May 18.
    The walk will focus on three dams on Cedar Creek that define Cedarburg ­— the Columbia Mill Dam at Highland Avenue and Columbia Road, Hilgen-Schroeder Mill Dam at Columbia Road and Portland Road and the Wittenberg Woolen Mill Dam at Bridge Street and Washington Avenue.
    Built by Cedarburg pioneers to supply water power to early industries, the dams have become landmarks in the community.         Author and Cedarburg resident Paul G. Hayes will lead the walk
    Those attending should meet at the Cedarburg History Museum.
    The cost is $10, and those attending should register online at www.cedarburgculturalcenter.org/history-programming.
