Herd management is topic of program
Local farmers will be able to learn about rotational grazing and other herd management practices at a workshop to be held Tuesday, June 13, at the Fredonia Government Center, 242 Fredonia Ave., in Fredonia.
The featured speaker will be Jim Gerrish, an independent grazing lands consultant providing services to farmers and ranchers on both private and public lands around the world. He currently resides in Idaho.
The morning session begins at 9:30 a.m. and includes a presentation from Gerrish and others.
The afternoon session begins at 1:30 p.m. at the Tim and Jane Grube farm, W3763 Evergreen Rd., Fredonia, and includes a pasture walk at Bullseye Farm and a discussion on developing year-round grazing systems.
A light breakfast with coffee will be served by Miriam’s Bakery and a lunch will be provided after the morning session by From Scratch Catering.
Both meals will be at the Fredonia Government Center.
The event is sponsored by Glacierland RC&D, a nonprofit organization committed to the wise use and conservation of natural resource and which promotes environmental, social and economic sustainability in eastern Wisconsin.
