Having fun celebrating Catholic schools in Port

St. John XXIII Catholic School in Port Washington marked Catholic Schools Week with a seven-day celebration that highlighted the importance of Catholic schools in the lives of students and their families as well as in their communities. Students kicked off the week, which ran from Jan. 28 through Feb. 3, by decorating the widows of downtown Port businesses, including the one at RE/MAX United that was painted by (from left in top right photo) Holly Kamenick, Ruby Didier and Bennett Walter. Two days later, students competed in a series of minute-to-win-it contests, including a three-legged race that Ella Spankowski and Kiley Cline excelled in (top left). The Ozaukee County Sheriff’s office got in on the fun, with deputy Wade Thompson attempting to roll a cookie from his head to his mouth without using his hands. Another contest involved keeping as many balloons as possible in the air. Photos by Sam Arendt
