Hartford Hawks thump Saints

The Saints didn’t make it to the eighth inning at Hartford last Friday.
The Hawks topped the Saints, 15-2, in seven innings via the mercy rule.
The Saints scored their only two runs in the second inning. Alex Elenteny, Ben Kleis and Jimmy D’Angelo singled. Nick Mueller knocked in two runs with a single.
The Saints loaded the bases twice more in the game but couldn’t score any runs.
The Hawks scored four runs in the first and second innings, one in the fifth and six in the sixth.
D’Angelo had three of the Saints’ 10 hits.
Cale Fransen started and went three innings, allowing eight runs (five earned) on nine hits, whiffing one and walking one.
Andrew Biertzer went two-plus innings and allowed four earned runs on two hits, walked eight and struck out four.
Tom Hartwick finished, allowing three runs (one earned) on three hits, walking none and striking out two in one inning.
Hawk Brody Marks gave up two earned runs on 10 hits, walking two and whiffing five.
Joe Seavers and Taylor Anderson led the Hawks with three hits each.
The Saints (1-4) play at the Cedarburg Mercs (1-5) Saturday and at Hustisford Astros (2-2) Sunday. Both games are at 1:30 p.m.
