Grafton singer to perform concert
Town of Grafton native Julie Rust will perform a Wisconsin Singer/Songwriter Series concert at Unitarian Church North in Mequon at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
Rust, a pianist and vocalist whose live performances have been described as a “sonic sucker-punch of beauty, intimacy and authenticity,” has recorded seven CDs and published a poetry book, “Little Awakenings.”
Her husband Rusty will join her onstage playing the guitar.
Rust, who earned a degree in music theory and composition from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, was selected by a National Collegiate Talent Search to tour with a band through Europe.
She later moved to Nashville, where she has performed at the Bluebird Cafe and other famous venues.
Tickets to the concert are $18 in advance and $22 at the door, with a discount of $1 per donated food item to a maximum $4 given at the door. Student tickets are $12.
Doors to the church at 13800 N. Port Washington Rd. open at 7 p.m.
Advance tickets may be purchased at North Shore Bank in Grafton and Mequon, Vines to Cellar in Port Washington or online at wsss.org.
