Grafton, Port, start seasons with wins
The Grafton High School baseball team began the season with two blowout victories.
Last Thursday, the Black Hawks clocked 14 hits and beat visiting Living Word Luth-eran, 8-0.
Ace Luke Michalak allowed three hits while striking out 11 without walking a batter in three innings. Brady Eader walked one and whiffed one in one inning of relief.
Jack Schmanski had two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored. Michalak had three hits and an RBI. Nick Schiller had a hit and two RBIs. Will Heinz had two hits, including a double, an RBI and a run scored.
Sam Cameranesi had a hit and one RBI. Zach Plier had two hits and three runs scored.
Grafton on Tuesday beat Catholic Memorial, 16-5. Stats weren’t immediately available.
Grafton was to host Ozaukee on Wednesday, April 9. The Black Hawks host Superior on Friday, April 11, and West Bend East on Monday, April 14. They play at Slinger on Wednesday, April 16.
Port Washington won its opener at Racine Horlick, 11-1, last Friday.
Max Webb allowed one earned run, three hits and three walks while striking out five. Dawson Dinkel allowed one hit and whiffed three in three innings.
Carson Page went 4-for-4 with five RBIs and two runs scored. Webb and Sam Hoeft each had two hits and two runs scored. O’Neal Wright had a triple, RBI and three runs scored. Kyle Uselding had a double, RBI and run scored. Bayer White had a hit and an RBI.
Port was to host Kettle Moraine Luth-eran on Wednesday, April 9, Plymouth on Friday, April 11, Racine Lutheran on Saturday, April 12, and Slinger on Monday, April 14. Port plays at Whitefish Bay on Wednesday, April 16.
