Grafton nearly tops Nicolet in the pool

The Grafton High School girls’ swim and dive team was 11 points from knocking off Nicolet on Oct. 11 at home.

The Black Hawks scored 151 points to the Knights’ 161.

The Hawks won seven events, including two relays.

The 200-yard medley of Kylee Grimm, Libby and Lola Michel and Halle Grimm won in 2 minutes, 1.65 seconds.

The 400 freestyle relay of Kylee Grimm, Sophie Schumaker and Lola and Libby Michel won in 3:57.77.

Libby Michel won the 100 butterfly in 58.56 and the 100 backstroke in 1:01.27.

Lola Michel won the 200 individual medley in 2:30.88, and Halle Grimm won the 50 freestyle in 25.98.

Maranda Uttke won diving with 270.95 points.

Grafton swam at Cedarburg on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Port Washington lost to West Bend Co-op, 128-56, at home on Oct. 11.

Co-coach Danielle Peiffer said she had girls try events they don’t normally swim.

Port’s only winner was Grace Linstroth in the 50 freestyle. Her time was 27.02.

Port swam at Whitefish Bay on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Grafton and Port compete in the North Shore Conference diving meet on Friday, Oct. 21, in West Bend.

The conference swim meet is Saturday, Oct. 29 in West Bend.
