Grafton to kick off holiday events with tree lighting

The Grafton Chamber of Commerce’s  Christmas events will kick off with a tree lighting and award ceremony at Lumberyard Plaza to honor this year’s Outstanding Citizen Steve Nauta and Outstanding Community Group Advocates of Ozaukee at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 24.

There will be free hot cocoa and treats. Letters to Santa will be collected and children will receive goody bags.

Activities will continue on Saturday, Nov. 30, when children and their families can have a pancake breakfast with Santa at Circle B Recreation from 7:30 to 10 a.m.

The meal, which will cost $10 for adults and $7 for children, includes all-you-can-eat pancakes, sausage links, applesauce, Little Debbie treats and beverages.

Santa will be available for pictures and there will be a photo station, face painting and other activities.

The meal will be prepared by Hotcakes On The Go and be served by the Grafton Lions and Leos.

Registration with the Chamber is required by Monday, Nov. 25.

The 44th annual Christmas parade will kick off at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 30.

The parade starts at the corner of Highway 60 and Sixth Avenue and heads east. It turns south on 12th Avenue and continues down Wisconsin Ave to Seventh Avenue.

Attendees are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets.

Voting for the annual home decorating contest will start on Sunday, Dec. 15, and run to Dec. 31.
