Gordon ‘Spike’ Bley

Gordon “Spike” W. Bley of Belgium died Saturday, Aug. 10, at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice in Sheboygan Falls. He was 90.
He was born in Belgium to Frank and Anna Teresa Ries Bley on Oct. 1, 1928.
Mr. Bley married Mary Anne Parker at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Sheboygan Falls on May 12, 1956.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Parish in Lake Church who retired from Simplicity Manufacturing Co. after 33 years as a machinist. He was a lifelong member of Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412 in Belgium and a volunteer firefighter for the Belgium Fire Department.
Mr. Bley enjoyed restoring old tractors, hunting, woodworking, gardening and cooking. He spent a lot of time tending to his land, his family said.
Mr. Bley is survived by his children Timothy (Karen) of Plymouth, Mich., David of Belgium, Roxanne (Bruce) Ten Haken of Random Lake and Sheila (Daniel) Schanen of Belgium; grandchildren Damon (Krystal Heimerl) Friend, Brandon Bley, Amanda (Matthew) Jungers, Andrew Ten Haken and Jason Bley; and one great-grandson.
He is further survived by his siblings Frank of Janesville and Richard (Joanne) of Belgium; sisters-in-law Pat Bley of Belgium, Sharlene Bley of West Bend, Gerri Schmit of Port Washington and Marie Parker of California; and brother-in-law John Surma of Chicago.
He was preceded in death by his wife Mary Anne in 2010, son Stephen, granddaughter Krystal Bley and siblings Dan, Ruth Parker and Loren Bley
A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 16, at Eernisse Funeral Home in Belgium. Father Gideon Buya will preside.
Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from 9 a.m. until the service.
Interment will be at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Lake Church.
Memorials to Melvin Wester American Legion Post 412 are suggested.
