Get ready for another movie, block parties and even more
Another movie night will be held on the lawn at Fredonia Village Hall on Saturday, Aug. 29, officials decided last week.
Plus, two other community events are in the works.
Village Parks Committee Chairman Dan Gehrke said the movie to be shown won’t be known until next week.
The first Movie Night in the Park was held June 27 and drew more than 80 people, Gehrke said.
Besides setting a date for the next movie night, the committee tentatively scheduled a villagewide block party for Saturday, Sept. 5.
“Residents would be allowed to host block parties for their neighborhoods and celebrate the end of summer,” Gehrke said.
People interested in holding a block party are being asked to contact the village with their ideas.
Village officials will go over the proposals, with Village Marshal Mike Davel to approve locations.
Each block party will be organized by neighbors, Gehrke said.
The committee also discussed holding another Music in the Park and Bier Garden event, the first of which drew close to 100 people to Freedom Park on July 18.
“Overwhelmingly, everybody said it was a success,” Gehrke said.
He said the next event will probably feature a fall harvest theme.
“These events are important to give residents a sense of community, especially in times like now,” Gehrke said. “It’s something we’ve been missing.”
