Gary Hiller

Gary L. Hiller, 73, of Hazelhurst died of complications of liver disease on Thursday, Aug. 22, in Duluth, Minn., while on a fishing trip in Canada.
Mr. Hiller was born in Port Washington to Ralph and Mildred Kirck Hiller on April 16, 1946.
After graduating from Random Lake High School in 1964, Mr. Hiller enlisted in the U.S. Naval Reserves and served as a radio man in California.
After his service, he moved to Minocqua, where he worked in a lumberyard and learned the construction trade. He built his own home and others in the area.
He also learned about heating and air conditioning and eventually went into that business.
Mr. Hiller’s family said he loved the outdoors, especially hunting, trapping, fishing and taking trips to Canada. He also painted landscapes.
Mr. Hiller is survived by his children Connie Hiller of Dallas and Mark of Mosinee; brothers Bill (Carol) of Hazelhurst, Dennis (Sandy) of Random Lake and Bob (Tom) of Maple Valley, Wash., and sisters Bev (Gary) Cline and Marilyn (Mickey) Sabec, both of Fredonia.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, at Our Lady of the Lakes Parish in Random Lake. Deacon Gerry Malueg will preside.
Visitation will be at the church Saturday from 3 p.m. until the service.
Memorials to the family are suggested.
