Gary G. Depies

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Gary G. Depies, a beloved husband, father and grandfather.

Gary was born on May 24, 1951, in Port Washington, Wis., and departed this life on Sept. 10, 2025, in Cedarburg, Wis., at the age of 74. His death leaves behind a legacy of warmth, humor and lifelong memories.

Gary and Pat were high school sweethearts who met in junior biology class.  They were married on July 8, 1972, and have been together ever since. Through the trials of life, their marital vows endured and their love grew stronger. They were steadfast in their love, support and dedication to each other and were best friends.

Gary began working on a relative’s farm before he ventured into various occupations that spanned his lifetime. He contributed his skills and strong work ethic while employed at a beer distributor, Bergin Plumbing and Heating and the Port Washington-Saukville School District. Gary was a hard worker and a “jack of all trades,” as he enjoyed tinkering and fixing things. Gary had a big heart and was always willing to lend a hand to a neighbor.

Gary was a passionate outdoorsman. He found joy in hunting, fishing and trap shooting, often embarking on memorable fishing trips to Canada and different Wisconsin lakes with friends and family.

Gary and Pat enjoyed riding their Harleys throughout the country from coast to coast. A proud member of the HOG Chapter, Gary enjoyed the camaraderie of his motorcycle group, commemorating birthdays and special occasions with laughter and good company.

Gary will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor and his remarkable ability to connect with people, always knowing someone wherever he went. He was a master storyteller, captivating others with his amusing anecdotes and lively conversations that often sparked laughter.

He will mostly be remembered for his love and unwavering dedication to his wife Patsy, his daughters, sons-in-law and grandchildren.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Patsy “Pat” (Race) Depies, his loving mother Joan Depies and daughters Julie (Matthew) Schlehlein, Beth (Brian) Asen and Lynn Depies, as well as grandchildren Ayden, Madeline, Jacob, Carter, Allyson, Brady, Emma and Jaxon.

He is also survived by his siblings Ron (Chris) Depies, Karen (Rick) Dieringer and Rick (Debbi) Depies and lifelong close friend Judy Snieg, as well as the community of friends whose lives he touched with kindness and laughter.

Gary was preceded in death by his father Jerome Depies and granddaughter Abigail Schlehlein.

A celebration of Gary’s life will be held on Friday, Sept. 19, 2025, at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon, Wis. Visitation will be held from 4 to 6 p.m., with a service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made to Mayo Clinic (give.mayoclinic.org), reflecting Gary’s strong appreciation for their care of Patsy during a recent illness.
