Fiber artist to give talk at quilt museum
Artist Jeila Gueramian, who will be part of the exhibit “Wit/Whim” will open at the Wisconsin Museum of Quilts and Fiber Arts in Cedarburg on June 13, will give a gallery talk from noon to 1 p.m. that day at the museum.
Light refreshments will be available after the talk.
Gueramian is a multidisciplinary artist best known for eerily whimsical installations combining repurposed textiles and technology.
Gueramian has had large-scale installations at Sattsgalierie Stuttgart Germany, Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, Columbus Museum of Art in Ohio and the Children’s Museum of Art and Katonah Museum of Art in New York.
She has given artist lectures at the Katonah Museum of Art, Crystal Bridges, School of Visual Arts and Ramapo College.
“Wit/Whim” will run from June 13 to Aug. 10. It features contemporary fiber artists whose work engages with a sense of play, childhood and humor. These themes inspire immersive world-building, experimentation with materials and ideas and keen observation.
The museum at N50 W5050 Portland Rd., is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Saturdays and noon to 4 p.m. Sundays.
