Family to Family class to start in March

A free Family to Family class for people whose loved ones are suffering from mental illness will be offered beginning in March.

The class, offered by the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will run from 6:30 to 9 p.m. on nine Wednesdays beginning March 12.

The class, which will be held in Grafton, is designed for adult family members, friends and significant others of persons living with mental illness.

The course includes information on illnesses such as major depression, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia and other mental health disorders as well as strategies for communicating with a loved one, maintenance of the supporter’s own health and minimizing life disruption.

The program is taught by intensively trained volunteers who have lived with or have experience supporting loved ones with mental health disorders.
