Enticement case against ex-State Capitol cop proceeds

A former Wisconsin State Capitol Police officer from Grafton was bound over for trial in Ozaukee Circuit Court last week on a felony charge of child enticement. 

During a Jan. 21 preliminary hearing, Judge Sandy Williams ruled that probable cause exists to support the charge against 34-year-old Brett D. Pekera, who, according to the Grafton Police Department, was a member of the State Capitol Police force when he allegedly committed the crime two years ago but has since resigned.

According to the criminal complaint and Grafton police, a woman reported in December that in the late fall or early winter of 2019, when she was 16, Pekera invited her to his house in Grafton, then into the basement where he had a table used to play the drinking game beer pong.

After playing the game, the woman said, she and Pekera played video games and Pekera created rules that involved removing clothing, according to police. 

  Pekera removed his clothing and exposed his genitals while the woman removed most of her clothing but used a blanket to cover her chest, the complaint states.

Pekera, who according to court documents moved from Grafton to Oakfield last week, is free from jail in lieu of $25,000 bail. Williams ordered him not to have unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18, maintain absolute sobriety and not to possess guns or other dangerous weapons.

He is scheduled to enter a plea during an arraignment hearing on Feb. 15.

Child enticement is punishable by a maximum 15 years in prison and 10 years of extended supervision.
