Eghart House museum to open in Port June 20
The Judge Eghart House museum in Port Washington opens for the season on Saturday, June 20.
The house will be open from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturdays through Labor Day with volunteers serving as guides.
Groups can tour the hall, parlor, dining room, bedroom and kitchen of the house, all furnished with antiques donated by Port Washington and area families.
Hand sanitizer will be available at the front and back doors, and no more than five people will be allowed to tour at any one time.
Guides, who will wear masks, will use sanitizing wipes on doorknobs, the guestbook pen and anything else visitors touch.
The entrance fee is $3 for adults and $1 for children.
Group tours may be arranged by calling Gina Taucher at 284-2875.
The house at 302 W. Grand Ave. is celebrating its 50th year as a Victorian restoration with a self-guided display about the history of the restoration, the people who made it possible and special events the house hosted.
Additional events to be held at the house this year include an anniversary celebration and Victorian Christmas.
