Donald G. Dohrwardt

Donald G. Dohrwardt of Fredonia passed away on April 30, 2026. He was 76 years old.
Donald was born in Port Washington on Sept. 27, 1949, to Arnold and Eunice (nee DeBroux) Dohrwardt.
He graduated from Port Washington High School in 1968 and furthered his education by studying architecture at Miami Dade Community College in Florida.
Donald settled in Fredonia in 1977, and there he raised his two children.
Don loved “playing in the dirt.” He was the owner and operator of Don’s Greenhouse in Fredonia, which he began in 1979, eventually running it full time until he retired in 2017. Prior to that, he ran a tree service and worked at Simplicity.
He was very involved with local politics, serving as a Fredonia village president and trustee for 30 years and Ozaukee County supervisor for 20 years.
In his spare time, he enjoyed dismantling buildings and helped take down the grain exchange in Port Washington as well as other local buildings. He always made time for family and loved spending time with his grandchildren.
Don is survived by his daughter Jennifer (Steve) Rodenkirch of Random Lake, son Jacob Dohrwardt of Fredonia and grandchildren James (Alix) Stevens of Colorado Springs, Colo., Nick (Carly) Stevens of Baraboo, Brandon Stevens of Milwaukee and Cadence (Garrett) Schram of Eau Claire.
He is further survived by his siblings David Dohrwardt of Milwaukee, Darrell (Debbie) Dohrwardt of Saukville and Darlene Hendricks of Fond du Lac, stepbrothers Ron (Jodell) Bartelt of Sheboygan and Bob (Barb) Bartelt of Port Washington, nieces, nephews, other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Arnold and Eunice and his sister Dollie (the late Todd) Mullins.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, June 13, from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at N7277 Beech St. in Random Lake.
