Donald Becker

Donald L. Becker passed away on Saturday, April 27, at the age of 82 years.

He was born June 17, 1936, in West Bend to Paul and Marie (nee Thelen) Becker and was raised in Newburg.

He graduated from West Bend High School with the Class of 1954.

Don served in the U.S. Army from 1959 to 1961 spending 19 months in Germany.

He worked for Tecumseh Products as a tool maker for 42 years, retiring in 1999.

On Jan. 20, 1968, Don married Bonnie May Westphal at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Newburg.

Don was a past member of the Newburg Fire Department and  International Association of Machinists.

He enjoyed spending time with his family. He loved his trips up north and taking his ride around the section each day. He enjoyed a good laugh and all the foolishness that followed, playing cards and, of course, his chocolate.

Don is survived by his wife Bonnie; his children Kelly (Michael) McCurdy and Ken (Brenda); grandchildren Thomas and Kaitlyn (twins) McCurdy; pets Jack, Winston and Chloe; his siblings Robert (Jeannie), Richard (Dianne) and Michael; his sister-in-law Barb Becker; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, in-laws Al and Nita Westphal and brother John.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 2, at Holy Trinity Church, 521 Congress St., Newburg, with Father Kevin Kowalske presiding.

Visitation will be at the church on Thursday from 3 until 5:45 p.m.

Interment will be at Holy Trinity Cemetery.

Memorials to the Alzheimer’s Foundation or the Newburg Fire Department are appreciated.

The family would like to thank the staff at Samaritan Home for all their care of Don and to the many friends who faithfully visited.

Phillip Funeral Home of West Bend is assisting the family.
