Results of a parent survey told Cedar Grove-Belgium Elementary School Principal Jeff Kondrakiewicz to continue researching a full-day 4-year-old kindergarten program.

Kondrakiewicz told the School Board last week that 80% of parents had “very strong or definite” interest in full-day 4-K.

He said he would like to post a job for a full-time teacher that “would give us an idea of what our candidate pool looks like,” he said.

The next step, he said, is to get a commitment from parents about enrolling in full-day 4-K.

“There’s plenty to come. Lots of work to do,” he said.

Board member Laura Schieffer asked how a full-day program would impact parents who support half days.

Kondrakiewicz said that would be part of the next round of data. The survey, he said was to gauge initial interest and determine if the district should further research a full-day program.
