Desperate times call for dedicated drivers

As the school bus driver shortage continued to worsen last summer, the Northern Ozaukee School District’s plan to have staff members take the wheel has taken off.

The district has already seen the benefits of its initiative. Four staff members have earned CDLs — football and wrestling coach Cole Large, Facilities Director Kent Schueller, technical education teacher James Peter and social studies teacher Chris Weavers. A grandparent who already had a CDL is also helping.
