D.C. trip is a go for eighth-graders

Students completing eighth grade at Cedar Grove-Belgium Middle School will have the chance to travel to Washington, D.C., next summer.

The School Board this month approved the trip proposed by Middle School Principal Kelly Dzurick.

The cost would be $1,800 per student which would include airfare, admission to sites and meals. The only thing students need to bring money for is souvenirs, Dzurick said.

A member of Academic Expeditions of Charlottesville, N.C., would lead the trip. Dzurick said middle school counselor Beth Smittkamp’s husband has taken the trip through the company with groups from Cedarburg and it has gone smoothly.

The trip will run from Thursday, June 19, to Sunday, June 22.

Dzurick would like to run the trip through summer school and try to fundraise so all the students who want to go are able. Fliers on the trip will be handed out at the open house.
