Dance teams compete at state

The Port Washington and Grafton high schools’ dance teams competed in the state meet at the La Crosse Center on Feb. 5. The Pirates finished fourth in Division 2 Jazz and Division 4 Pom, and coach Becka Rindt was named Coach of the Year by the Wisconsin Association of Cheer/Pom Coaches. The team includes (top photo, front row, from left) Ava Mrozek, Sydney Rychtik, Coach Hanna Rausch, Rindt, Brielle Bertler, Ella Gilhooly, (back row) Victoria Del Angel-Cano, Rachel Krueger, Lexi Princeton, Olivia Differt, Lilly Milbeck, Tori Pokey, Alyssa Hovey, Avalina Lentz, Lizzi Princeton, and Meah Leister.
In Jazz, New Berlin Eisenhower won, followed by Waupaca and Onalaska. Pewaukee was fifth. New Berlin Eisenhower won Pom, followed by Waupaca and New Berlin West. Seymour was fifth. The Grafton team (below) was finished 11th in hip hop. The team includes (front row, from left) Cassidy Burke, Nicole Pampel, (back row) Alaina Jarmusz, Kayla Dembiec, Addison Balogh, Alena Huskanovic, Abby Bigler and Capri Constantineau. Missing from the photo were Ava La Duke and Aubrey Cerda. The coaches are Maddie Anderson and Todd Williams.
