The Ozaukee High School girls’ basketball team cruised to an easy, 73-52, Big East Conference victory at Elkhart Lake-Glenbeulah Nov. 20.

“It was a good team victory,” Ozaukee coach Tim Wolff said.

“It was a great way to go into the Thanksgiving break.”

Ozaukee junior Becca Schauer continued her strong play with a 28-point performance.

“Becca had another big scoring game, but not just scoring, moving the ball and playing defense, and getting steals,” Wolff said.

Schauer completed a double-double effort with 13 steals. She also had seven assists.

“She has had an amazing start to the season,” Wolff said.

After three games, Schauer is averaging 29.7 points per game, 8.3 steals per game and 4.7 assists per game.

The Warriors built a 37-19 halftime lead and never looked back.

“All the girls got to play a bunch, and I really like how we are pushing the ball down the court,” Wolff said.

Warrior Greta Klas scored 14 points. Mallory Miller and Gabby Klas each scored eight, and Miller added six rebounds.

The Resorters were led by Megan Flora with 20 points and nine rebounds. Alex Schneider added eight points and seven assists. Avery Feldman tallied nine rebounds and six assists.

The Warriors climbed to 3-0 overall and 2-0 in the conference. They are tied with Oostburg, Howards Grove and Mishicot atop the league standings.

The Warriors will face tough competitors in the conference in their next two games. They host Oostburg on Thursday and play at Manitowoc Lutheran on Dec. 4.

“We are looking forward to a big, big challenge,” Wolff said.

Manitowoc Lutheran, one of the preseason favorites, lost by two points to Mishicot and by 13 points to Oostburg.

Both games begin at 7:15 p.m.
