Cow killed in accident
A pregnant cow was killed and a vehicle was greatly damaged in a car accident with the bovine in the Town of Fredonia on April 9.
The Ozaukee Sheriff’s Office received a call at 8:41 p.m. that a vehicle had struck a cow on Jay Road, west of Highway 57.
Captain Marshall Hermann of the Sheriff’s Office said the cow was loose and in the road when a vehicle driven by Lorie Maechtle of Cedar Grove collided with it on the road while traveling eastbound.
Maechtle was not injured but the cow died from its injuries, Hermann said.
Maechtle’s vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene by Lanser Garage and Towing.
The cow was removed from the scene by its owner, Steven Depies of Fredonia.
