A new privately operated Covid-19 testing site will open on Monday, Dec. 14, at the Ozaukee County Fairgrounds, the county health department announced Tuesday.

The Washington Ozaukee County Public Health Department has contracted with Curative Inc. to provide free oral Covid-19 testing at the fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Tests also will be available during the same hours at Washington County Fair Park.

The tests are self-administered oral swabs. Results are texted or emailed within 48 hours.

Advance registration is required. Insurance cards and photo ID are required. Residents without insurance will not be turned away.

There are no out-of-pocket costs. Test recipients’ insurance will be billed. Those without insurance will be paid for by the county.

Appointments can be scheduled online through Curative’s website at www.curative.com. Registration in Washington and Ozaukee Counties opens on Friday, Dec. 11.

The testing sites will be closed Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.

As of Tuesday, the health department reported there were 884 active cases in Ozaukee County. The number has dropped steadily since reaching a high of 1,300 active cases on Nov. 20.
