Ozaukee County is seeking someone to fill a County Board seat representing the Village of Grafton being vacated by the resignation of Supr. Scott Rishel.

The 14th Supervisory District, which Rishel represents, consists of Wards 5, 6, 7 and 8 in the Village of Grafton.

Rishel’s resignation is effective Sept. 1.

Rishel said Tuesday he was stepping down from the County Board due to business conflicts.

Rishel served two terms on the Ozaukee County Board from 2014 to 2018, when he decided not to run for re-election.

In March of 2021, he applied to fill a vacancy on the board, was elected in 2022 and was re-elected in April 2024.

District 14 is roughly bounded by Creekside Lane on the west, West Locust Street on the north, 17th Avenue on the east and West Falls Road on the south.

A map of the district can be found online at www.ozaukeecounty.gov/DocumentCenter/View/7473/Supervisory-District-14?b....

Rishel’s replacement will be appointed by the County Board. Applicants must be residents of the district.

Online applications are required and can be accessed at http://www.co.ozaukee.wi.us/./CitizensInvolvement.htm.

Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, with a goal of appointing a new supervisor on Sept. 3.

The Ozaukee County Board consists of 26 supervisors, each representing about 3,300 people. The Ozaukee County Board sets program priorities and county policies and determines the county taxation levels through the annual budget process.
