County aims to issue tickets, not charges for minor pot offenses

The Ozaukee County Public Safety Committee on Tuesday recommended that charges of simple possession of marijuana or drug paraphernalia be reduced from a criminal offense to an ordinance violation.

Doing so would make the Sheriff’s Office enforcement more consistent with local municipalities and reduce court costs and workload.
