Concessions Impressions
O is for Oostburg and apparently onions. Yes, the Flying Dutchmen’s concession stand offered onions last Thursday! And these weren’t the chopped ones that fall out of your burger or off your frank or brat. These were sliced in those endearing circles that are custom fit to populate the top of my patty.
The cheese slice was thick, and the hard roll I presume came from that stellar bakery down the street.
My plan to expand from main dishes of burgers, brats and hot dogs quickly shifted, given the elusive edible bulb breakthrough. They got a nice tip for that.
Granted, the stand lacked antacids (I prefer assorted berries flavor) and gas relief capsules, but you’ve got to figure these events are bring-your-own-Beano.
It didn’t offer the local culture’s traditional olliebollen or worstebroodjes, but neither does Cedar Grove-Belgium’s stand, and that one thankfully doesn’t have mustreipen either, because nobody wants to read about my gag reflex and how I spent the second half in the local lavatory. Thursday’s conditions were bad enough. That manure stench arriving just before the spooky low-hanging fog was about as tough to tackle as Ira Hilbelink.
In other road game stand news, Greenfield offered a mouthwatering thick and juicy cheeseburger on Friday. I just should have brought some onions from the night before.
Yes, the name changed from Concessions Critique to Concessions Impressions. It’s more fitting and it rhymes, a double bonus.
