Church-turned home to hold open house on Thursday

St. Mary’s Church in Lake Church has been transformed into a home, and the public will get a chance to see owner Dan Majewski’s work at an open house from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday, July 7.

Majewski, a contractor and real estate agent who lives in a converted church in Big Bend, bought St. Mary’s last fall with plans to remodel and sell it.

Conversion of the church built in 1884 is complete. The price is $699,900.

The outside of the church looks about the same, but the inside has been altered.

The towering ceiling, decorative columns, traditional chandeliers and stunning stained glass windows remain intact, and several pews have been repainted and used to help create a dining area in the open-concept house.

Majewski kept some of the icons.

The decorative painting on the ceiling and the wall where the altar once stood, as well as the Ave Maria symbol, remain.

It’s the seventh building and second church that Majewski has flipped.
