As shoppers flocked to Veterans Park for Saukville’s farmers market on July 10, an eastbound car hit a barricade and continued to drive down a blocked road at the 200 block of Green Bay Road adjacent to Veterans Park at 10:44 a.m.

Farmers market attendees tried to stop the car, operated by Melvin Prom, after it hit the barricade, but he continued until Saukville police officers responded, according to a police report. Nobody was injured.

When officers pulled Prom over, he “was rude, argumentative and appeared confused,” the report said. He allegedly refused to listen to simple instructions and ignored police officers.

The accident resulted in damage to the front of Prom’s Chrysler 200 and a violation for failure to obey traffic signage, the report said.
