Busy Port Washington swim team continues to show improvement

The Port Washington High School girls’ swim team had its third meet in a six-day span on Sept. 25 at the West Bend Co-op.

The Pirates scored 36 points, 14 more than last year. West Bend had 133.

“It’s been a long stretch but most girls had times close to their season bests and some (had personal records) at this meet,” coach Danielle Peiffer said.

Freshman Kamryn Lapacek scored seven points. Sophomore Sydney Hannert had six, and senior Elaina Wichmann scored four.

Port was to swim at Grafton on Tuesday and at Whitefish Bay on Oct. 9.

Grafton takes sixth at Bulldog Invite

Grafton finished in the top half of the Bulldog Invite at Cedarburg on Saturday, taking sixth place with 147 points. The host won with 607.

Elaine Proefrock had the highest individual finish for the Black Hawks, a fourth in the 500-yard freestyle in 5 minutes, 44.04 seconds.

The 200 freestyle relay team of Olivia Konzen, Maddy Hillner, Proefrock and Allison Garncarz took fourth in 1:47.92.

Sophomore Sofia Scolman was fifth in diving with 347.95 points.

Proefrock was sixth in the 200 freestyle in 2:07.11.

Konzen was ninth in the 100 freestyle in 58.98.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Proefrock, McKenna Slaminski, Grace Hahm and Annika Korb was ninth in 4:19.01.

Konzen was 11th in the 50 freestyle in 26.75, and Garncarz was 12th in 26.81.

The 200 medley relay team of Hahm, Garncarz, Hillner and Konzen was 11th in 2:06.42.

Hahm was 12th in the 100 backstroke in 1:11.3.

Garncarz was 13th in the 100 freestyle in 59.92, and Hahm was 13th in the 200 individual medley in 2:32.66.

The Hawks were to host Port on Tuesday, swim in the Nicolet invite on Friday and host Cedarburg on Oct 9.
