Brooks named Legislator of the Year by association
Rep. Rob Brooks has been named Legislator of the Year by the Wisconsin Child Support Enforcement Association.
Brooks, who received the award Sept. 19, was given the honor because of his work as chairman of the Legislative Council Study Committee on Child Placement and Support.
Twelve pieces of legislation were drafted as a result of the committee’s work that have a positive impact on the child support program and those it serves, the association said.
Brooks “showed tremendous skill in helping potentially disparate groups work together and to find consensus in the face of challenging public policy questions,” said Milwaukee County Child Support Director Jim Sullivan, who served on the committee.
Even after the committee adjourned, Brooks continued to work with county child support agencies, added Association President Deb Barnes.
