Boutique plans to expand by adding design studio
Wild and Precious Boutique in Grafton may be expanding its operation to include a client meeting area, design studio and production and shopping areas.
Business owner Opal Stone hopes to expand her existing business at 1323 Wisconsin Ave. into the adjacent former Merle Wuenne plumbing shop. The boutique started as an online shop in 2014 before opening a physical location in August 2020. Customers could visit on an appointment-only basis because of the pandemic, but now walk-in shopping is available five days a week.
In addition to clothing, accessories, home goods and baby items, Stone also offers design services like event signage, logo design, custom gifts and invitations.
The expansion would add 1,000 square feet to the business, an addition Stone hopes to have completed by July.
The space would be used as a meeting place for clients as well as a design studio for photographing products that may be used in ads or item listings.
The addition was to be considered by the Plan Commission on April 26.
Community Development staff members found that the proposed use of the new space is consistent with the village’s comprehensive plan and zoning district and that the expansion would not interfere with neighbors or general welfare of the village.
Staff members proposed approving the expansion contingent on reviews by the fire and building inspectors.
